Thanks to a successful marketing campaign, Snow White and the Huntsman opened to an estimated $56.26 million at 3,373 locations. This makes it the fourth highest debut this year trailing The Avengers, The Hunger Games and The Lorax. It was also vastly superior to this years similar Mirror Mirror, which opened to $18.1 million back in March. Despite having Kristen Stewart as a star and having a fairy tale plot, men showed up in large numbers for the film, accounting for 47 percent of the film’s attendance.

MIB 3 came in second earning $29.3 million, a very strong hold for a film that opened over Memorial Day weekend. This brings the films total gross to $112.3 million.

Coming in third, The Avengers earned an estimated $20.3 million. It has passed The Dark Knight’s total and has now earned $552.7 million domestically. This makes it the third highest grossing film domestically, behind Avatar and Titanic.
